Applied Cybersecurity Essentials (ACE) Bootcamp
Thought leaders in technology and the press continue to report an international cybersecurity crises. IT professionals have an extraordinary opportunity to be engaged in crucial work of cyber defense. Many high paying career opportunities are going unfilled because of a lack of certified cybersecurity professionals.
According to Cybersecurity Ventures, “there will be 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity positions by 2021.” Cybersecurity hiring is growing due to a dramatic rise in cyber crime, new government regulation, and privacy concerns.
The U.S. Department of Education believes that cybersecurity careers should not require a university degree and cybersecurity career aspirants might be best prepared by certificate programs or vocational training.
“In trying to stay ahead of rapidly growing digital threats, cybersecurity is essentially the tip of the computer science spear. It’s an environment that is at once ever-changing and mission-critical—defined by agile, continuous learning around the latest malware and cyber defenses. This constantly changing nature of cyber threats and mitigation strategies is simply too mercurial for many established four-year degree programs to keep up with. Curricula would have to be constantly updated, something made more difficult by the fact that full-time professors may not have the time, or clearances, to stay privy to the absolute latest trends and best practices.
The demand for certified cyber professionals is so great that salaries are on the rise. "It's a full-on war for cyber talent," said Matt Comyns, a managing partner at executive search firm Caldwell Partners who specializes in information security.
“In the 12 months ended August 2018, there were more than 300,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs in the U.S., according to CyberSeek, a project supported by the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education. Globally, the shortage is estimated to exceed 1 million in coming years.”Casey has more than 20 years of industry experience in information security and large-scale IT implementation and project management in challenging and cutting edge computing environments that include both the public and private sectors.
